patti s. (age 11)

Something I've been working on for the last few days -

from a school photograph of a young Patti Smith, age 11.
I stumbled upon this photograph on the web and really loved it.
I think I like expression on the second, earlier stage best,
but unfortunately, paintings don't have a control Z, "un-do" button
and it's so easy to kill a painting with "death by tinkering",
so i resisted the temptation to keep pecking away at it.

painting-a-day! luna (on the ottoman)

It's summer, teaching is over, and I'm reviving my painting-a-day blog :-)

ok……..technically, it will be closer to 5 a week (a girl does has to play sometimes!)
and technically, the inaugural piece wasn't done in a day, but over several days.
But i'm pleased with the eyes, and that pre-pounce intense kitten look.
