The last three portraits, two brothers and a sister, I wanted to work together as a group, as well as individual portraits.
I set them at three different times of the year, and three different times of the day, with a little something in each that reflects something about that child.

sfmoma artist gallery sale + "world of wonders"

it's that time again....
the annual sfmoma artist gallery warehouse sale.
it's a big fundraiser for the gallery, with work from 50% to %75 percent off regular prices-
I'll have several pieces there, including this piece, "bridesmaid waiting" (hope).

world of wonders (milagro) -
mixed media collage on paper

here is one I made the night before I took the work over to the gallery - I like to stay up (almost) all night, sitting on the floor in a sea of pieces of paper and little bits of history.  I was smitten by this little bit of paper that from a tattered copy of "The Gentlemen's Magazine and Historical Chronicle, 1833".  I'm having a difficult time coming up with a visual image on what the belated counselor was actually doing.....I tore through boxes of snippets, trying to find the rest of the page, but no luck.

I couldn't figure out which way I liked the piece best, so I signed and titled it on all four sides,
who ever purchases it can spin it around at whim.

claire on television!

My work will be featured on an episode of the HGTV show "interiors, inc"
this coming up Saturday, March 17 (St. Patrick's Day).
I haven't seen it, but I believe there will be footage of my exhibit in Nashville plus a little feature showing my work in the home of the gallery owner Susan Tinney.
The promo reads.....
"the team redesigns a couple's family room to complement a favorite painting."
Curl up with your green beer and watch my few minutes of fame (and please, someone Tivo it for me - I don't have cable :-)

painting auction - benefit for heidi-

my friend heidi has had a terrible tragedy -
in october, her husband passed away a month after being diagnosed with metastatic cancer.
She has tremendous medical expenses, and she and her children are endanger of losing their home.

I'm auctioning off this piece to to try and help a little with the medical bills.
100% of the proceeds go directly to heidi.

I'm auctioning the piece silent auction style -
If you wish to bid on it, just click on "post a comment" in the comment section, and put an amount (higher than the previous bid) with your name.
The auction will end at 7:00pm (pacific time), november 18th. (my birthday!).
The painting will go off to the highest bidder :-)

gallery price would be $1200, I'm starting the auction at $25

news, sketchcrawl

here are a few articles on my work in the SFMOMA artist gallery blog

telling tales

tenuously balanced blocks.

Sketchcrawl!

SketchCrawl a global drawing marathon: taking a day to journal and draw all that is around you. It was started by artist Enrico Casarosa in the SF Bay area, and has spread all around the world. This sketchcrawl was a special fund raiser for Japan.

In addition to the big contingent meeting to draw in san francisco -I rounded up some of my students to draw at the annual petaluma butter and egg day parade!
Find out how I came to be up on a parade float and waving to the crowd here....

You can see more results of the global day of drawing here.
